The premiere of the all-new SsangYong TivoliDKR Buggy of Oscar Fuertes and Diego Vallejo, built by the Spanish rallycompany Herrador went well and the Dakar-Rookie Fuertes, who has won the ticket for the rally in the Dakar Series, finished the first special in 43rd position, with a time of 31:41, 9:50 behind the stagewinner Al-Attiyah.

The Spaniard was the third best Spanish car-participant behind Nani Roma and Carlos Sainz - and in the rookie-category he finished fourth. "These first 30 kilometers of the Dakar have been very difficult. We saw stucked cars right from the beginning of the stage. This has made us even more careful," said Fuertes.

Fuertes used the first kilometers of the Dakar 2018 to check the good performance of the new SsangYong TivoliDKR: "We are pleasantly surprised about the performance of the car, especially in the Sand. We still have to fine-tune some technical detail, but if we do that, I'm sure we're going to have a very good race."

Navigator Diego Vallejo also is in good mood: "Oscar has done it phenomenally. He pushed the car when possible! Sunday´s stage two is going to be terrible because it is a very difficult terrain and the cars are in front of the bikes," explains a motivated Vallejo.
