In the context of the 40th edition of the Dakar Rally, which will take place starting January 6, "PromPeru" has designed special activities that will allow destinations to be known by national and foreign visitors, who will follow one of the most challenging competitions in the world.

With that said, the celebration of this rally will begin with the Dakar Village on January 3 at the Army Headquarters (Pentagonito), where the Peru Tent will be installed, inspired on the Pachacamac Archaeological Sanctuary. In it, the general public will enjoy dances from the regions where the race will take place, as well as superfoods, promotional material and pisco and our renowned cuisine tastings.

On Saturday, January 6, the day that the race begins, all competitors will show off their vehicles in a show full of color and adrenaline, which will feature important personalities of the world motorsport. As it is known, according to the organizers, this competition will be watched by more than 190 million viewers around the world, making it a great international showcase for Peru.

That same day, the 'Peru, Mucho Gusto' fair will open its doors for two days in the city of Pisco. There, you can taste the best dishes of the award-winning Peruvian cuisine, with exhibitors from neighboring regions. There will also be an exhibition and tasting of superfoods, an initiative whose main goal is to promote the quality, variety and benefits of the Peruvian offer of these products.

Finally, on January 10 and 11 Puno will also host the fair 'Peru, Mucho Gusto', while dismissing the competition vehicles, which will continue their journey to Cordoba (Argentina), passing through Bolivia.

The Dakar Rally will go through our country from January 6 to 11, 2018, crossing the cities of Lima, Pisco, San Juan de Marcona, Arequipa and Puno. This competition returns to Peru after five years and promises to be one of the most attractive editions thanks to its varied geography.

The organization of the 2018 Dakar Rally formed a multisectoral commission led by MINCETUR, in which the ministries of Culture, Environment (Sernanp), Education (IPD), Interior and Defense also participated.

In a coordinated manner, the route through which the competition will pass was drawn, respecting the exclusion zones so that our natural, cultural and paleontological heritage is not damaged. Likewise, they are carrying out an awareness campaign in which the public is asked to follow the competition in the spectator zones, to collect all trash and throw it away, and to respect the signage around the route.
